Dog slide. I have been trying to stay out of slides since they upset a few people so badly but I have to do this one.
I have two old dogs. They are going on 15. I picked both up off the side of a highway when they were 6-weeks old. They are sisters and littermates.
One of them was diagnosed with bladder cancer 6-months ago. She has been taking a cancer tumor reducing drug during that time. It was working fine until two days ago. For the last two days she hasn’t greeted me in the morning with a bark and wagging tail and she is only eating about half of what I put out for her. She is VERY thin. The doctor said to watch for passing blood, but she hasn’t done that. Still, there has been an obvious change for the worst in the last two days. She doesn’t act like she’s in pain but most times they hide that.
We have an appointment today at 3:30 to see her doctor and decide if it’s time to let her go. This is my third old dog I had to help cross the bridge in five years and the second in two years. I hate this part.

I’m sorry Tenn. It is the hardest part of owning a dog. Although I know you will feel the loss I also know you don’t want your dear friend to suffer. I have another aging dog also so empathize. Hugs.
I’m sorry you need to make such a difficult decision. Big hugz to you and yours!
I hate it, too, TC. Been there very recently myself. You’ll be in my prayers. My heart goes out to you. đź’”
I lost my 15 year old buddy last year. It was sudden. I thank god you and your other dog have had time to prepare. I hope for the best for you both.

The cat GIFs are very cute but I’m a dog person too. I know your pain and my heart hurts with you. The only flaw of our loving dogs, or any pet, is that they leave us too soon.
The best advice I received from that book was on how to prepare for the end. I sat on the floor with her and brushed her and told her her life story... from the first time I saw her up until the present. She listened to me so intently, I swear she could understand every word. We had an incident when she was a puppy where she broke her leg and it was my fault it happened. When I told her this part, she tilted her head and the tongue went back in her mouth, as if to say, "Oh yeah! I had forgotten about that!" And then she licked my hand, like, "It's okay... I forgave you." I then told her what was going to happen when we went to the vet the next day and promised her that there would be more tennis balls than she had ever seen where she was going. And I made her promise she would be there to meet papa when he came to join her, as my father was very ill at the time.
It was honestly the most helpful thing I have ever done when losing a pet.
Dog slide..
I am really sorry about your pup, TC. Been there, done that, hate it.

I’m sorry you are going through this, and will say a prayer for you and your dog. I know how difficult it is from much experience.. I have a lot of cats, who are all rescues in one way or another, each one unique and precious, and it’s always hard to watch them decline, and then to lose them. One of my oldest is in rather slow but noticeable decline right now; I think she likely has dementia, but I will do what I can for her for as long as I can. I pray you will have clarity about your dog’s situation and that God will give peace to you and to her.
Sliding in and giving hugs.
I know about this.
oh, so sad.. dogs are sometimes our guardian angels.
Prayers for your dog - may it be the best possible outcome for her and you.
ot.......good luck....hard situation....our one and only dog lived to be nearly 18 yrs but she was growing increasingly in pain and distress....and we had to let her go....
