I have a 41 yo niece who had a sudden onset of FND 2 weeks ago. She still can't talk, only can walk with assistance (meaning she literally has to be held up - like a baby learning to walk), not sure what else. She petite, was in an ATV accident when she was 16 & damaged her head, yet not brain damage. She, her hubby, parents & friends have never heard nor had experience with it. Does anyone here have experience with this?
It is not a stroke. It’s considered a “software” problem. A stroke is considered “hardware.”

FRIDAY, April 10, 2020 (HealthDay News) — A study out of China finds that strokes, altered consciousness and other neurological issues are relatively common in more serious cases of COVID-19.
Looking at 214 cases of severe coronavirus illness treated in Wuhan city during the early phase of the global pandemic, doctors reported that 36.4% of patients displayed neurological symptoms.
Sometimes these symptoms appeared in the relative absence of “typical” symptoms of COVID-19 — fever, cough, diarrhea — the team said.
In such cases, doctors should consider coronavirus infection as a potential cause of the problem “to avoid delayed diagnosis or misdiagnosis,” said a team led by Dr. Bo Hu, a neurologist at Union Hospital in Wuhan.
Hu’s team published their findings online April 10 in JAMA Neurology....

Mind you, I’m not a physician, and I’m not saying COVID is the cause. I’m saying that I would look into it.
A quite-elderly dearly-loved relative of ours passed away recently with unexplained neurological symptoms. She was not tested for COVID, but some family members strongly suspect it. Officially, the cause of death was not completely determined.
It gives me no pleasure to point out the obvious for an avoidable tragedy.
I sincerely wish the best outcome.
My initial review of sources did not turn up much beyond intense physiotherapy being a usually substantial help.
I can’t seem to find an angle that would point to diet, exercise, or supplements as being directly helpful.
I will see what else I can find.
Sometimes these things can be the immune system forming antibodies that act like signals, binding to some receptor on a nerve and turning it on or off absolutely.
Modern medicine will probably take decades to try and figure it all out.
If it were my relative, I would try to get them to a doctor of traditional Chinese Medicine. TCM is an ancient form of medicine, in its best form combining powerful herbs they have studied for years, and acupuncture. They have identified several different broad brush ways to modify immune function, and often will look at something like this and see a way to give some herb that has anti-inflammatory or immune suppressive qualities, and get relief modern doctors just have no way of doing.
By all means, I would keep chasing specialists, you might get lucky, but I would also try TCM in addition with ideally a Chinese trained specialist, trained in herbs and acupuncture, with at least 15-20 years practicing, and hopefully with some specialty in neurological issues.
I have MS which is an immune disorder, it has been in remission for the last 6 years my neurologist told me under NO CIRCUMSTANCES to take the vax!! He is now finding he was not wrong MANY are coming down with immune neurological disorders!! I am PRAYING this will pass for your niece and does not end up being something that is long or life lasting!!

Have you actually been to a doctor yet? Damage to discs in the neck can progress to where you can have this prob.

That’s where you want to start. When the world has been undergoing an injection ‘experiment’ on human beings for the last two years, logically and medically, it’s the first question that you should be asking.

I would assume she has been seen by a physician or a specialist in neurological disorder. She probably would need a full workup to rule out so many different reasons for the symptoms..myasthenia gravis, multiple sclerosis and it’s variants, guillan-barre syndrome( even a simple cold can cause it). Early onset Parkinson’s,dementia,Psychological causes, self harm, poisoning(environmental or inadvertant), someone might be abusing her, side effects of any medication or chemical substance, electrolyte imbalance, all come to mind as low possibility causes. I wish her the best, and I hope the cause of the disorder is determined.
She may have a lesion on her spinal cord or brain. An MRI will reveal it. One of the causes of these lesions is inflammation from a known source or unknown source (ideopathic). If diagnosed quickly IV steroids can be helpful.

...Aside from the spike in miscarriage diagnoses (ICD code O03 for spontaneous abortions), there was an almost 300% increase in cancer diagnoses (from a five-year average of 38,700 per year to 114,645 in the first 11 months of 2021). There was also a 1,000% increase in diagnosis codes for neurological issues, which increased from a baseline average of 82,000 to 863,000!
Some other numbers he did not mention at the hearing but gave to me in the interview are the following:
myocardial infarction –269% increase
Bell’s palsy – 291% increase
congenital malformations (for children of military personnel) – 156% increase
female infertility – 471% increase
pulmonary embolisms – 467% increase
All these numbers are among the ambulatory visits because those are where the vast number of diagnoses in the military occur. However, Renz did say the increases were indicated in the hospitalized patients as well. I have seen one of the sworn declarations from one of the military doctors, and it states as follows, “It is my professional opinion that the major increases incidences of the above discussed instances of miscarriages, cancers, and disease were due to COVID-19 ‘vaccinations.’”
