I am not aware that such a 'term' (as Chief Justice) has ever been specified. It is worthy of a good test... and it might remind the justices that they are not 'supreme', that they also answer to the separation of powers.
***how do you change chief out?***
My idea, as stated earlier, is for POTUS to nominate a replacement and see what falls out. I do not think that it has ever been tested.
I thought being a Supreme Court Justice was for life. (Unless the Justice voluntarily retires, of course).
Replacement is a splendid idea, though. Maybe those uncharted waters will be charted in the not-too-distant future.
