I am looking to relocate out of New York with my (very conservative) Family. We are currently looking specifically in the Daytona-area in Florida and near Nashville, Tennessee. My wife and I travelled to Florida last week and met realtors; we plan on heading to Nashville next.
They State of NY has already killed my father in a nursing home and now are are requiring shot after shot for my kids to go to school. We need to get out ASAP.
I would appreciate any suggestions, thoughts, or comments from Freepers. Thanks.
There are a lot of cities besides Nashville and Daytona to seek refuge. Both places are being overwhelmed with refugees from Democrat hellholes.
I would expand your search to other places where the cost of housing is not through the roof.
Everybody knows about Florida but they might not know about Tennessee yet so prices might be better.

I wonder how many thousands of people are thinking/doing what you are, but don’t write about it on venues like FR.
We’d love to have you in FL - but real estate is nearly out of reach because of the mass exodus and all the market imbalances we’re seeing.

There are probably more job opportunities in Nashville than in Daytona, but that of course depends on what line of work you are looking for.
Unless you are retired, employment would be my number one priority, housing number two.
make sure to change your last name to Plissken when moving to wash the NYC filth off ya..
I’d also look at the areas east and north of Dallas, outside of Dallas county.
Let us know what you find. We’re a half dozen years behind you. Lots of friends buying near Endicott FL on the FL West coast.
Plano / Frisco Texas in North DFW are growing fortune 500 company destinations housing is getting expensive but if you don’t mind a 30 minute commute you can still get ten acres with a 4500 sqft home for 750K in the Prosper area same for Justin, Rhome or Anna.

I retired from the NYPD in 2020 and will likely look for part-time work. The wife and kids will need proximity to schools and jobs going forward. We are looking in the suburban areas near the cities with job opportunities nearby.
Are you picking Florida and Tennessee because those states do not have a state income tax? If so, consider Texas as well.
We looked in the Tampa area first. For a variety of reasons we prefer the Atlantic coast.
