Christmas Eve--tonight--should be mysterious, quiet and dark to provide a contrast for the light representing the Advent of God. (That is certainly how we like to imagine it in our hymnologies in any case! (E.G.: "Es ist ein Ros entsprungen", "Silent Night", "Little town of Bethlehem". )
