Top News: Pfizer boosters are effective against Omicron variant, Israeli study says
“Scientists in Israel say their small study supports getting a booster of Pfizer-BioNTech’s coronavirus vaccine to protect against acute illness from the new Omicron variant. Blood sample analysis revealed that the 20 trial participants who received a third dose at least 1 month ago were much more likely to neutralize Omicron than the 20 participants who received a second dose 5–6 months ago with no booster. At the same time, the researchers report, the vaccine’s defense against Omicron is not as robust as it is against the Delta mutation that is predominant in the United States. What that means, they explain, is that the booster may not work as well against Omicron as other variants; but people who become infected with it may be less likely to fall acutely ill if they have a booster dose in their system. Pfizer and BioNTech are formulating an Omicron-specific vaccine that could be ready for distribution in March should the variant become widespread. (Read More)”

Prayer request for Califreak: (update: biopsies show cancer has spread)
A very dear FReeper and wonderful person is suffering from cancer. She has allowed me to make a prayer request. She had mouth cancer, was treated, and now it appears to have spread to other locations. Califreak also lost her husband not long ago.
“They haven’t done biopsies yet so I don’t know for sure but I may have a tumor on my neck and lung meds.
I’m on pain meds 24/7 and hurting so much. Please add my kids-my son and my daughter-she is caring for me and she doesn’t want to lose both of her parents in the same year.”
May God hold Califreak tight in His loving arms though this difficulty.

Wow, SB, that’s a lot of work. Are you living there while doing it? I really admire that you can do all of that. My husband can barely change a light bulb, lol. He’s a great husband, father and provider, but not handy at all with things around the house.
