Wow that is a lot of sailing. I used to sail a LOT with my father when i was kid. He was nuts. When there was a small boat warning that is when we went sailing. Intentionally!
He would tell us, "If I left the boat in the harbor it might get damaged."
Once the mast broke in a major storm. That was fun.

on nice days he would heal the boat to the point you can visually watch easy 100 gallons of water entering the boat as I'm bailing with a bucket. The bilge pump worked fine it simply couldn't keep up. He would do it over and over.

Sounds like a lot of good times with your Dad.

Folks used to rent a cottage the last week in August.
Dad had a small row boat to go out and go fishing.
He took each one of us kids (4) individually for a short ride.
When he went out by himself, he had an epilepsy seizure and fell out of the boat and drowned. I was 4 years old, saw the whole thing.
I have such a fear of water, never learned how to swim and I have a pool.
