We interrupt your daily “Invisible Touch” listen to share some upsetting news about Phil Collins, who revealed in a new interview that he’s no longer able to play the drums due to deteriorating health. Speaking with BBC Breakfast alongside his Genesis bandmates, Collins confirmed that he won’t be behind the kit for the band’s upcoming The Last Domino? world tour, and that his son, Nic, will be drumming in his place. (Meanwhile, his daughter, Lily, is famously in Paris.) “I’d love to, but you know, I mean, I can barely hold a stick with this hand. So there are certain physical things that get in the way,” Collins explained about his current state. “I’m kind of physically challenged a bit, which is very frustrating because I’d love to be playing up there with my son.” Collins also expressed skepticism that he’ll ever tour again after The Last Domino? concludes its run in December. “We’re all men of our age, and I think to some extent, I think it probably is putting it to bed,” he said. “I think just generally for me, I don’t know if I want to go out on the road anymore.”
Collins has been plagued with serious health issues over the past few years. In 2016, he revealed that he was living with dislocated vertebrae, nerve damage, and foot fractures, which left him feeling like he was walking “on sticks” and impeded his ability to perform. For The Last Domino? tour, Collins will solely be taking on vocal duties for Genesis’s catalogue of hits
I thought I heard Keith suffers from arthritis.
Not John Lennon’s line...

I would have loved to have seen the 1976 tour with Bill Bruford on the other set of drums.
LOL, that reminds me when I was playing a Genesis album, and one of my kids said to me, "Hey, it's that guy from the Tarzan movie!"
That’s not old age.
Paul McCartney was an excellent drummer when he chose to be.
One short example is heard on his debut Solo album called
McCartney.
The cut is entitled “Momma Miss America”.
Great R&B bass, electric piano and basic but effective drumming.
McCartney played every instrument on his first solo album.
Drummed on “The Ballad of John and Yoko”, also played the lead guitar on “Taxman”.
Jimmy Page must be happy.
Have you ever seen the land of confusion video?
Fortunately, Tony and Mike still have chops and Nik is ok (he lacks his dad's anticipatory timing). So I will be up-the-road 11th row VIP ("I Can't Dance' pre-show cocktail party featuring passed appetizers and complimentary beer & wine") in a couple of months to see them. I rarely splurge but this is IT for these guys and feels like karma to make it 5 shows total going back to Lamb.
Modanna wad very political and never voted so that doesn't prove much. Check out the land of confusion video where he mocks Reagan.
That was Spitting Image, which at the time, was a very popular show in Britain. It probably wasn’t even the band’s call to do that video.
Lol!
Where “Rolling” takes on a whole new meaning ♿

Sad. I’ve been a Collins fan since the early days of Genesis, he was a great drummer in the early days too.
I think either Nursery Cryme or Lamb Lies Down on Broadway would have to take a slot in my 10 all tiime favorite albums. Maybe both. And Trick of the Tail is very close too. Not a bad cut on that one, first time he did lead vocals. Hard to find better songs than Squonk and Ripples, Entangled...Title cut is excellent too.
There was a story behind that. Phil did backup/harmony vocals while Peter Gabriel was lead vocalist, and he made a couple of demo tapes the band could use to show auditioning singers what they wanted. The rest of the band liked it, told Phil he should keep doing it, so he ended up their “new” singer.
But we all get old and playing onstage does take its toll. I’m 67, have a serious case of COPD after 45 years of smoking (finally quit when I got sick) then a case of pneumonia that damn near killed me 3 years ago, have to play on a stool now and cut back on vocals, but I’m still one of the better local guitar players. I’ve seen a couple of younger kids who seem to have a good future, but most are usually too drunk by the middle of the 2nd set to be too impressive. One kid in a music store was playing some really impressive licks on a telecaster, stuff I can’t touch, he was about 25 and I’d love to see what he can do in another 10 years. Never saw him again though.
I know what Phil’s dealing with, I carry my Blues Jr inside, stop and catch my breath. Carry a guitar in, catch my breath. Band practice yesterday just playing a couple of energetic songs in a chair I had to stop for a couple of minutes and get it back together...I remember seeing roadies carry Johnny Winter onstage in a chair and put his guitar in his lap. I hope I don’t get that bad...but he still played the ever lovin’ crap outta the thing...
I haven’t tried, but I probably couldn’t play drums any more, definitley can’t play sax or flute, just put my sax and flute up for sale, no takers. Then there’s 2 xylophones, 2 keyboards, a couple of old pedals sitting around...yeah I have GAS...gear acquisition syndrome...and I got it bad...5 amps, 5 or 6 guitars, half dozen pedals, saxes, flute, clarinet, xylophones, keyboards, I’m surprised I don’t have a drum set and 3 or 4 basses...and sold 3 or 4 guitars a few years ago, I brought 7 electrics onstage and an acoustic 20 years ago...
I am so jealous, you saw The Lamb tour. I just wish I could have seen them before Steve left, Darryl just never did much for me.
“... 5 shows total going back to the Lamb”
You mean that Lamb that lied down on Broadway?
A Trick of the Tail is my all-time favorite album, period! I go back and forth as to whether Ripples or Mad Man Moon is my favorite track on it, but every song on it, is fantastic. If you follow Rick Beato, he does a great breakdown of "Dance on a Volcano".
Keep your fingers out of my eye.
Phil jammed like a maniac in this jazz fusion Brand X lineup.
