Trading with the Enemy is Wrong

As the Chinese Communist Party grows more aggressive, American businesses call for appeasement.

The Navy and Marine Corps have kicked off their two-week Large Scale Exercise 2021, a massive effort that spans 17 time zones, to test their vision of how to conduct war on a global scale against peer competitors. Such an operation is reminiscent of the Cold War, but then we are in another Cold War facing a coalition of powers who want to dominate the international order. That coalition is lead by the People’s Republic of China with the strong support of a Russia seeking to recover from its defeat in the first Cold War. Both powers have been strengthening their ties with Iran at the intersection of Europe and the Indo-Pacific. In response, the U.S. has reenergized its alliances and expanded them, most importantly in partnership with India. The Trump administration recognized the danger of renewed Great Power competition, and the Biden administration is continuing many of its policies because the change in the White House has not changed what is going on in the outside world.

The most prominent flashpoint is the South China Sea, where China has created artificial island bases backed by a naval buildup to support its claim to imperial sovereignty over this vital maritime realm in defiance of international law.

Beijing’s state media outlet Global Times made a direct threat “We advise US allies to be particularly cautious…They must be bluntly told that if their warships rampantly behave as the U.S. military does in the South China Sea, they will more likely become an example of China defending its sovereignty and territorial integrity -- just as a popular Chinese phrase indicates: To execute one as a warning to a hundred.”

a popular Chinese phrase indicates: To execute one as a warning to a hundred.”

that was before the Cultural Revolution, a movement now back in fashion under Xi - so it will now read, “To execute one hundred thousand as a warning to a million.”

Very few Americans understand how grave the Chinese threat is.

We defeated the USSR because we outproduced them. Our citizens had a higher standard of living that theirs envied and our military was so well equipped the couldn’t compete.

How do we do the same to China when most of what Americans earn is shipped east in exchange for knick knacks and baubles?

I agree, we need to severely limit trade with China, but instead we are doing the opposite. The NBA should be prohibited from any commercial deals with China, same for Apple etc.

China played the long game.

The Mao years were all about purging all foreign influence on China. Once that was accomplished, China had a plan to trap the West by offering cheap labor and manufacturing with the promise of opening up their markets to a billion Chinamen.

And now that trap is about to slam shut.

Zbigniew Brzezinski and David Rockefeller brought Deng Xiao Peng’s post-Mao China into the International System specifically because the cultural revolution had razed the ancient culture and the one child policy was an admission ticket to the high table of international Technocracy above the Capitalism-Communism dichotomy. China isn’t an aberration in the 1 world system, it’s the Foundation.

We should have thought of this a few decades ago. It was Bush and the GOP who signed the free trade deals with the communists, with support from Rush and many Freepers. We literally sent them the money and technology they are using to build up their military.

In return, we save $.10 on communist made paint brushes, and that's assuming you don't count paying back the interest on the money we borrow to buy their products.

Now we want to accuse Biden of being weak against them, but whose stupid free trade deals made them into the threat they now are in the first place?
