LGB people 'more likely to have mental health issues'

Lesbian, gay and bisexual people are more than twice as likely as heterosexuals to have a long-term mental health condition, an analysis of NHS data suggests.

They are also more likely to drink heavily and smoke, the report says.

About 2% of people said they were lesbian, gay or bisexual in the 2011-18 Health Survey for England.

The findings "confirm well-established health inequalities for LGB people", say rights groups.

Of the adults surveyed over the eight years, 1,132 or 2%, identified as lesbian, gay or bisexual. Participants weren't asked about trans status or gender identity, but this is being considered for future surveys.

About 16% of LGB respondents reported having a long-term mental or behavioural disorder, compared with 6% of heterosexual adults.

LGB people also reported lower average mental well-being scores than heterosexual people, with LGB women having the lowest score of all groups.

They were also more likely to drink more than the recommended units of alcohol.

One-third of LGB adults drank more than 14 units of alcohol a week, an amount which "put them at increased or higher risk of alcohol-related harm", compared with a quarter of heterosexual people.

The proportion of people who drank no alcohol was similar among white people of different sexualities, but among ethnic minority communities, LGB people were more likely than heterosexuals to drink.

LGB people were also significantly more likely to smoke. This includes one in three LGB women, compared with one in six heterosexual women.

So true. I believe they are also more likely to commit suicide. And many were abused as children. But let’s not take any of that seriously. I am sure pretending everything is OK will make it so.

The issue is not simply mental health issues but the cause of it and recourse for it. Religious people may also have higher rates of mental health issues, since the cause of such is what brings them to Christ wherein they find help, but if a consensual religious practice - lets say the Lord's supper - was shown to be responsible for 81% of new HIV cases aged 13 and older among men - - despite only representing approximately 4% of the male population - and 92% of new HIV among youth, and (historically) a greatly increased incidence of other infectious diseases and premature death, and despite decades of attempting to tame it into being "safe," then it would be treated as the plague.

As regards STD's as well as suicides in the US  among MSM and lesbians  and "transgendered" persons:

 

Based upon a review of 40 studies that involved a total of roughly 185,000 adults with HIV or AIDS (PLWHA -- People Living With HIV/AIDS), "suicide risk is 100 times higher among  such patients," and with "person attempting suicide for every two who think about it. Men who have sex with men accounted for  56.7% of all male P&S syphilis cases in 2019. Also, estimated rates of reported gonorrhea among MSM are 42 times the estimated rate among men who have sex with women. (https://www.cdc.gov/std/statistics/2019/overview.htm) 

The CDC study Sexually Transmitted Disease Surveillance 2014 found that among male cases for whom the sex of the  partner was known, 83% of syphilis  cases were MSM.  75.53% of syphilis cases in 2014 were among homosexual men. 51% of the homosexual men diagnosed with syphilis in 2014 were also HIV-positive. Furthermore as regards problem of suicide and suicidal Behavior among LGBTQ and transgender persons  medically serious attempts at suicide are 4 times more likely among LGBTQ youth than other young people. (https://save.org/about-suicide/suicide-facts/)  

LGBQ young people are more than twice as likely to feel suicidal, and over four times as  likely to attempt suicide, compared to heterosexual youth (Kann 2016)

The suicide attempt rate among transgender persons ranges from 32% to 50% across the countries. (Note that compassion toward such is to be shown,  while the high  suicide rate among LGBTQ persons is blamed on societal rejection, yet  in the West it is actually those who oppose homosexual relations that face the most widespread persecution, and minorities such as evangelical Christians face great persecution worldwide without being suicidal.)

Well, back before 1973 when the American Psychiatric Assoc. pimped out on common sense, homosexuality was considered a Character and Behavior Disorder. In other words, homosexuality and other sexual deviations were considered abnormal. The average person was considered to be more normal.

But now the average person is considered to be abnormal, and the deviants are considered normal.

There’s your post and then there’s reality.
These people are mentally ill. Homosexuals have clustered with other mentally ill persons since their group characteristics have been studied.
They are more likely to engage in other destructive behaviors (drugs, alcohol), they’re more likely to commit crimes and to be the victims of crimes. They are more likely to commit suicide for instance no matter how much they’re accepted.
So the result is there is no difference between acceptance of their behavior and hate.

The folks truly born that way are aberrations to the norm...the low end of the bell curve. Not saying they should be scorned or bullied but not accepted as normal either.
