Know your Nautical terminology
orlop deck
1. The lowest deck of a ship-of-the-line.
2. The deck covering in the hold.
This is the orlop deck of HMS Victory. The orlop is where the ship's surgeon, rarely an MD, would treat injured, wounded or ailing members of the crew. Officers would be treated in the wardroom if not in battle.
PS - Had minor surgery today. All is well. Back home but feel a serious nap coming on.
