As a high school junior way back in 1976, taking the required U.S. History class, a couple of weeks prior to the end of the year, our teacher said something like “Oh, yeah. Turn to Appendix blah. I’m supposed to teach you about the US Constitution, but we’ve run out of time, so there it is. Read it.
The only other thing I recall about that class was his writing on the chalkboard: VPISU(cks). - that was in reference to VA Tech, which at the time was called Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. (I recall he was a UVa grad.)
What a travesty.
You used to have to take a Constitution Test just to graduate, at least in my state.
