Harvard legal professor and Trump legal defender Alan Dershowitz made clear that former President Donald Trump is wrong in his baseless and consistent claims that the 2020 general election was stolen. The fact that he made these claims to Fox News host Sean Hannity, in full view of millions of Hannity viewers who likely disagree, is no small thing.
Hannity started the conversation by discussing ongoing audits of elections in key swing states that went for President Joe Biden, arguing that the audits were a healthy exercise for the body politic as people need confidence in the results. This ignores the fact that many people see the audits as a politically motivated effort designed solely to undermine that very confidence, and that the results in Arizona and Pennsylvania had already been certified and vetted and recounted during the end of 2020.
Dershowitz followed Hannity’s intro by making two salient points. “Number one, there’s never been a perfect election,” he said. “JFK’s election wasn’t perfect, George Bush’s election was imperfect and the current election wasn’t perfect.” He then added, “Number two, the evidence seems to strongly suggest that it wasn’t stolen and that the outcome was right.”
Gregg Jarrett then opined with his signature Gregg Jarrett-style analysis, after which Hannity noted: “a lot of these states were very close.” He then hypothetically asked Dershowitz “what if an audit shows that a state would flip, and what would the remedy be, professor?”
“The answer is crystal clear, no one knows,” the Harvard professor replied. “It’s never happened. The supreme court would duck the issue in the way it ducked to the issue in 2000, in the way it ducked the issue in 2020 and 2021.”
And then Dershowitz doused any embers of hope some Hannity viewers might have that Trump could be reinstated as president. “There would not be a reversal of fortune, a reversal of the election. That would not happen, unless we found — unbelievably — it didn’t happen here, massive, massive, deliberate fraud. But it’s just not going to happen.”
“I think we have to look to the future,” he continued. “We have to accept the fact that Joe Biden is the President of the United States, he will be the president of the United States until the next election but we have to make sure that future elections are transparent.”
“It’s a very unhealthy thing in a democracy if 30 million, 50 million people don’t trust the outcome of an election,” he said. The election has to be trusted and for that we need transparency and that is why I’m in favor of audits,” he claimed because he is confident they will show “lack of perfection” and that the election wasn’t stolen.
Dershowitz was most likely threatened with the loss of his law license, like Guliani.

I will partially (less than 50/50) grant you that. But he certainly knew of the McCain and Romney archetypes; He saw right through Comey early on and with his acumen judging people (I should say evaluating) he really should have understood the depth and breadth of Swampdom much, much more than he did. He got the report (from Kelly(?) that he was being surveilled and moved his campaign to Joisey the next day, well before the election. Yes, it was and is barely comprehensible and few saw it. But Trump should have fired 35x the number of people he did. He seriously underestimated how deadly crazed serious his opponents were and how the law would be subverted to undermine him NOT ONLY at every opportunity, but to make up new opportunities knowing there was never to be any penalty for making stuff up. His episode with Comey showed that, precisely, and early. What he did not understand was that Comey had 5 level deep backup, including the entire DOJ.

The fix was in, but they didn't anticipate how strongly Trump would win. They just didn't cheat hard enough — but they learned their lesson.

If you go back and watch the reactions of the media and political class to Trumps win in 2016, they were totally stunned and even frightened.
It's been my impression that they were fully aware of the magnitude of the vote fraud in place to get Hillary across the finish line as winner.
Trump still beat her even with the massive margin of vote fraud the Dems put in place for Hillary.
They were stunned by the magnitude of Trumps real life margin of victory - a historic land slide victory just to beat the baked in margin of fraud.
Biden was on track to lose worse than Hillary so this time around, they put a plan in place to do whatever it took to manufacture enough votes to give Biden the win. Even they they underestimated the margin of fraud needed in key swing states and had to shut the counting down to manufacture enough votes

There comes a point though, where Trump can no longer blame traitors when he has had more than enough time to weed them out and stop trusting them.

In fairness Dershowitz hasn't seen the Arizona evidence and neither have you or I. There are claims of massive fraud and I'm looking forward to see the evidence they offer to back the claims up, but we're not there yet.
Trump's problem when he took office we
a) He believed the PR regarding certain people like Mad Dog Mattis. The Marines I've worked with fall into two categories regarding Mattis. They love him or hate him. The ones that hate him say he's all self-promotion all personal PR. I am now sure there were others whose "resumes" were all PR fantasy.

If he believes in Audits to show what really happened, how is he so sure the Election Results were not compromised?
The Election was not decided by Millions of Votes, it was decided by less than 50,000 Votes from what I’ve read.
Senate Races could also be part of the “alleged” fraud tilting the balance of power.
Dershowitz has skeletons in his closet, not surprised he’s taken this position. Dems are squeezing everyone they can trying to avoid the truth of the matter.
There have been plenty of other elections that have been overturned.
Beyond that, a very basic legal principle states that "fraud vitiates" everything. I don't think you understand that precedent nor what it means.
