The Department of Justice has retracted its claim that it seized a “fully constructed U.S. Capitol Lego set” from an accused Capitol rioter.
In an memorandum asking a court to order Robert Morss be held pending trial, prosecutors claimed that law enforcement officials “recover[e]d a fully constructed U.S. Capitol Lego set” while arresting the defendant.
But in a supplemental motion, authorities said they erred in conveying that claim.
“Please note that after a review of the photographs from the search, there appears to have been a miscommunication and that statement appears to be inaccurate. The Lego set was in a box and not fully constructed at the time of the search, as pictured below,” they wrote.

PSAKI: Sure. Well, first — well, thank you for the question, because he’s very focused on the speech tomorrow, one that he himself wanted to deliver. He’ll lay out the moral case for why denying the right to vote is a form of suppression and a form of silencing and how he will use — he will redouble his commitment to using every tool at his disposal to continue to fight to protect the fundamental right of Americans to vote against the onslaught of voter suppression laws based on a dangerous and discredited conspiracy theory that culminated in assault on our Capitol. He’ll call out the greatest irony of the big lie is that no election in our history has met such high standard with over 80 judges, including those appointed by his predecessor, throwing out all challenges. He’ll also decry efforts to strip the right to vote as authoritarian and anti-American and stand up against the notion that politicians should be allowed to choose their voters or to subvert our system by replacing independent election authorities with partisan ones.
And he will highlight the work of the administration against this, the necessity of passing the For the People Act and the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act, and how we need to work together with civil rights organizations to build as broad a turnout and voter education system to overcome the worst challenge to our democracy since the Civil War.

Texas Democrat Lawmakers To Flee State, Risking Arrest, To Stop Republicans From Passing New Voting Laws

At least 58 Democratic members of the state House of Representatives are expected to bolt from Austin on Monday in an effort to block the measures from advancing, a source familiar with the plans told NBC News. The unusual move, akin to what Democrats did in 2003, would paralyze the chamber, stopping business until the lawmakers return to town or the session ends.
The majority of the members plan to fly to Washington, D.C., on two private jets chartered for the occasion and use the time there to rally support for federal voting legislation, the source said. Others will make their own way.
The lawmakers risk arrest in taking flight. Under the Texas Constitution, the Legislature requires a quorum of two-thirds of lawmakers be present to conduct state business in either chamber. Absent lawmakers can be legally compelled to return to the Capitol, and the source said Democrats expect state Republicans to ask the Department of Public Safety to track them down.

Arizona State Senator: Georgia Has Proof of Somebody Admitting to Running Ballots Through Numerous Times

During an interview with GWP, Borrelli spoke with Jordan Conradson about the audit, what’s expected to happen next, and what Republicans are doing to quell efforts from Maricopa County and the Secretary of State to thwart the audit.

Arizona GOP Chairwoman Dr. Kelli Ward recently provided a major update on the audit and what comes next.
Last week, it was revealed that a whopping nine state delegations will tour the Maricopa County audit facility on Friday.
Ward, who threatened that there “could be arrests of people who are refusing to comply,” says the audit could be completed much sooner than expected.

Arizona Senate Conducting New Count of Maricopa County Ballots

The ballots cast in Arizona’s largest county in the 2020 election will be counted for a third time on orders from the state’s Senate.
Nearly 2.1 million ballots submitted in Maricopa County for the presidential contest were tabulated, as normal, by election officials. They were recounted by hand by audit teams hired by the Arizona Senate in a process that was completed late last month.
Now the Senate will do its own recount that will provide a number to compare to those from the county and from the auditors.
“Maricopa County says there’s 2,089,563 ballots. We did the hand count, and they’re finalizing that number, but we just wanted a third number to tie everything together, make sure we have more—the more data points, the better,” former Arizona Secretary of State Ken Bennett, the Senate’s audit liaison, told The Epoch Times.
The new count will focus on the number of ballots and will not count the actual votes, unlike the first two tabulations.
The Senate will use two counting machines that it purchased to complete the count, Arizona Senate President Karen Fann, a Republican, told the Arizona Republic.
”We’re going to run all the ballots through to see how they match up,” she said. “If there ends up being a difference, we’d have another count.”
The machines arrived on Friday. They appeared to be from U.S. Paper Counters. The machines are said to be able to count up to 2,000 sheets per minute.
The count will go quickly, likely wrapping up in under a week, audit officials say.
