I have been so saddened with all the crap going on in your state. big stuff and lots of it. are you totally locked into staying there? That's a good question. Yes, politically, CA in general is off the charts, but the town I live in is pretty conservative by comparison,. The taxes here are high, but unless I would move to a zero-tax state, the incremental difference isn't enough to make me move, so far.
I know it sounds stupid, but the weather here in Huntington Beach is the best. And the weather is something that affects you 24/7/365. I grew up in IL, and have spent time in many states with extended time in TX. The cold, humidity, rain, bugs... is not what I want to deal with especially as a person gets older. We have also spent a lot of time in AZ at baseball tournaments & the heat is unbearable.
I have worked all this time to pay off my house here in HB & the last year have worked pretty much from home. The more time I spend in HB, the more I enjoy it - taking my dogs to the beach & parks... It's a nice place.
Having said all that, I do fear that what CA is doing in terms of allowing crime to run rampant could change my mind. It hasn't hit HB yet, as we are pretty tough on crime here. I am hoping that things change across the state, as it can't be tolerated much longer at the rate it is going.
