1. why would anyone be against more holidays?

2. why would we NOT have a holiday celebrating the freeing of the slaves? why did it take this long to make it a holiday?

i get that there is a whole political shit sandwich involved here, and the (usually correct) knee jerk reaction is that "anything the lefties want is bad", but this is a good thing and is well overdue

No. Anything the lefties want is bad. That is an axiom of eternal truth in human politics, to paraphrase Jefferson.

Giving in to the left at all increases their power. That includes “holidays” that one may want for one reason or another. And whatever the left claims something to be, it is not.

1. It will cost the federal government a lot of money because all federal employees will now get another day of holiday pay.

2. While the ending of slavery was a great thing, it does not make a lot of sense to make a holiday at this point in time. It will really only cause more division, JCpennys had some juneteenth merchandise and it had the black power fist on it. This is not meant to be a holiday in which the whole country comes together to celebrate the ending of a great evil. It will be celebrated with militant marches, riots and anti white merchandise.

Well for one thing, Lincoln freed over three million slaves the day he signed the Emancipation Proclamation which was September 22, 1862 and has nothing to do with June 19.
