Under agency law Employers or contracting agencies are responsible for the torts committed by their agents while performing duties.

In this case delivering packages is 100% acting as an agent of Amazon. The uniform just cements it.

If it turns out critical race theory is the cause that’ll be interesting. Can’t see the perp’s lawyer using that as a defense. That would be hilarious. Also, the perp would be charged with a hate crime...more hilarity.

If this guy had a verifiable past and Amazon was forbidden to research it...that’ll be interesting as well.

The Amazon driver’s who deliver here have all been extremely plesant...to the point I suspect they are trained in how to handle customers. If that’s the case, I don’t know what any company can do if they’ve trained people and conducted whatever due diligence is possible by law. But if the law is the problem here, Amazon will have the clout to get it changed.

This will be worth following.
