It’s hard to find someone who doesn’t love a good steal — but there are a few pieces that are worth splurging on. For some, it’s an iconic handbag, and for others, it could be a piece of jewelry that they’ve been saving up for. Somehow, for editors and influencers alike, the one thing they’ll always shell out for is a great pair of shoes.
“When I invest in my wardrobe, shoes and bags are always my go-to,” says Kelsey Stiegman, a senior style editor at Seventeen. “I try to go for pieces that are either incredibly unique or timeless and classic — I think both are worth a splurge.” While she loves a good backless loafer, she’s not afraid to go big with a pair of timeless Prada slingbacks either. “If I can’t live without it, it’s worth the price.”

When 9/11 happened I was glued to the tv as the catastrophe was still unfolding. One strong impression was seeing women toddling on spike heels with straps while trying to run away or get across the bridge. I wondered how many women died because they wore impractical shoes.
My EEE feet wear whatever shoes I can find in extra wide.
Keepin' it real, for real.
Love New Balance shoes. I have three pair of 928s; black, brown, and white. Get them on se for about $110. They will last forever.
Haven't worn them since.
Red Wing Iron Rangers are $300+ and worth the money for us normal folks. I didn’t see them on the list.
The most comfortable shoes I have ever worn are made by San Antonio Shoe (SAS) company in Texas. I paid USD175 for them ten years ago, and they still just make me want to walk any time I put them on.
I just like them because they support my feet, they aren’t lumpy, and they keep the water out
WTF? Who buys a $600 pair of sandals?
Just bought skechers. 3 pair,$90.00. Good for at least 8 years.
Have a look at SAN ANTONIO SHOES (SAS).
This is news worthy of discussion on FR????
I believe Allen Edmunds are still USA made.
I guess it's because I'm a red-state conservative that I don't find New Balance sneakers for $184.95 to be a "good steal". I usually wear New Balance sneakers and the last pair I bought I paid around $40.00.
And some of those ugly shoes in the article are over $1,000!

To each his own. At least it got your attention and comment.
I have a pair of Florshiem shoes I bought when I graduated college in 1985. I wore them to interviews. Eventually weddings and now funerals. They are cordovan color.
Impractical shoes exist cuz many, many, are still pampered.
Last pair of florsheims i bought were made in India. The top layer of the leather upper scraped off in a large chunk.
Won’t buy those again.
I'm surprised this ditzy liberal woman isn't working in DC. She's certainly shallow enough...
