They would not have been able to shoot it down.
They moved faster, and better than out jets.
And if the object was not making an aggressive movement...why would the Navy engage?
I’m just a lowly civilian puke, but am pretty sure that we have air to air missiles that can fly faster than our planes.
You’re right though. Why pick a fight for no reason?
But in the meantime, don’t claim these things are “better” because we really don’t know until we see if they can be shot down.
