Now it’s soap dispensers...
Student shares campus tale that soap dispensers are racist
(snip) Sullivan Israel, a civil engineering student, recounted a debate he attended by his school’s Republican group in which a black student said automatic dispensers did not take to her because of the color of her skin.
“As one UCLA student claimed during the debate, automatic soap dispensers ‘don’t see her hands’ due to the dark pigment of her skin,” Israel wrote in the College Fix. “As another student reiterated, soap dispensers are racist because they force ‘black and brown bodies’ to show their palms — ‘the only light areas of the skin’ — in order to get soap out.”
However, automated soap dispensers use a motion detector that triggers the soap to fall, rather than a detection mechanism determined by the color of someone’s skin.
People with a speck in their eyes see specks everywhere, as the saying goes.
OK, I can see that. It’s a motion detector, but that relies on an “electric eye” a beam that is shot out and when something comes in front and reflects it back, the soap comes out. I can see how darker skin could fail to trigger it as easily as dark absorbs light better, or reflects less light back. However as the user admits, those of color have areas of their body that are NOT sun darkened, right there on the item to be washed, so I would advice remembering that when you start going with cancel culture, eventually EVERYTHING must be canceled.
