She’s a redhead. Even better.
This goes way back...IIRC, my sophomore year in college (74), they played a concert/dance at Gonzaga. They played it twice, the finale was an extended version that went over 20 minutes. Had a chance to talk to their lead guitarist during a break, he was very friendly. Great memories.
I've been around the Sun nearly 64 times and I'm stumped on this one. Any other clues you can provide?
Great memories. All except he part about soothing every ridging wave . . . Old surfer here.
Great song. Is it more Rock or Jazz?

When I die and they lay me to rest
Gonna go to the place that's the best
When I lay me down to die
Goin' up to the spirit in the sky
Goin' up to the spirit in the sky
That's where I'm gonna go when I die
When I die and they lay me to rest
Gonna go to the place that's the best
Prepare yourself you know it's a must
Gotta have a friend in Jesus
So you know that when you die
He's gonna recommend you
To the spirit in the sky
Gonna recommend you
To the spirit in the sky
That's where you're gonna go when you die
When you die and they lay you to rest
You're gonna go to the place that's the best
Never been a sinner. I never sinned
I got a friend in Jesus
So you know that when I die
He's gonna set me up with
The spirit in the sky
Oh set me up with the spirit in the sky
That's where I'm gonna go when I die
When I die and they lay me to rest
I'm gonna go to the place that's the best
Go to the place that's the best
Their subsequent hit “Don’t Call Us We’ll Call You” was about the hassle of getting Green Eyed Lady recorded.
Seeing that image reminded me that Milk Cow was the B side to the single. Can’t imagine why it wasn’t a hit as well:
Jethro got himself a milk cow
And he called her Bess
Jethro got himself a milk cow
And he called her Bess
Milk cow in the mornin’
Milk cow, oh, any time at all
He can tell the early of the mornin’
By the rooster call
He can tell the early of the mornin’
By the rooster call
Milk cow in the mornin’
Milk cow, oh, any time at all
Any time, any time at all
Any time
Give you a lifetime of pleasure
All she needs is love
Give you a lifetime of pleasure
And all she needs is love
Milk cow in the mornin’
Milk cow, oh, any time at all
Any time at all
Any time, any time
Any time at all
Any time
Jethro got himself a milk cow
A Medley of Our Greatest Hit
I don’t even recall it. Maybe if I heard it.
I’ll look it up on YouTube and take a listen.
Here, I’m done!
(pretty fast, wasn’t it?)

Verdict: No like. Spirit in the Sky a million times better.
Still have that LP in my ancient underplayed stash.
I thought it was Quicksilver.
I got into sooo much trouble that summer!
That year... I really preferred https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lSdBtoIIYT4 I’ve always like Paul Rogers... Free, Bad Co. ... Then much later https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VnjJVwaivKg Hey it’s all a matter of taste.
I wasn’t born until December of 1970, but there were some great tunes from that year. From “Green Eyed Lady” to “DOA” by Bloodrock.
Dang, I’m ancient. It’s depressing.
A true classic.
I still enjoy Easy On My Soul, by Paul Rogers and Free. I wish I had the talent to do a remix of it.
