literacy IS a life skill.
Math is too.
They had lousy parents, that’s all.
Parents that were driven to work more hours than probably necessary to fund the social state.
Very hard to be a parent when you’re forced to work 80hours or more a week to have a standard of living.
Soon they will wish they had learned academics instead of social justice and about white fragility.
Parent’s job.
It doesn’t take a village, it takes two parents....of the opposite sex.
Agree, this sort of learning comes from the parents. I was lucky enough to learn about hard work and the value of the dollar. Thank you Mom and Dad.
My life skills were taught at home and when I didn’t follow the instruction, a paddle, belt or switch was used as a corrective measure, just to reinforce the instruction...
Most of us learned life skills without a need for a special course. Actually, they used to have special schools for genuine certified retarded people which actually taught them them life skills.
They used to teach that stuff in school during my parents generation. They even had time to teach the three Rs. But that was before climate change, and sjw subjects like fisting and entire semesters of screeching about orange men and turning the quarterback into the home coming queen
Yes.
But they are also right that they should have been taught life skills at school.
It used to be considered part of a balanced curriculum to teach home economics, shop and consumer math.
This was done because lots of people have lousy parents.
If they have not mastered literacy and math by the time they are in fourth grade, long before you get into life skills in high school, they are done in any case and the school has failed.
So they should at least teach them how to make a sandwich.
