Excellent! How can folks not see this? I used to have coffee with a group of retirees. One morning they were cheering that the govt was finally going to stick it to the oil companies. I asked them, Where will the oil companies get the money to pay those penalties?
They actually stared at me blankly. I explained that the oil companies would receive that money when they were standing at the gas pump filling their vehicles. They were speechless.
People cheer to see diesel fuel more expensive than gasoline - even though it comes off the refractor (?) earlier than gasoline. Try to explain to them that at least 80 - 90% of everything they buy is delivered by truck and if the consumer does not pay that cost of shipping there won't be any more deliveries.
It is not really the fault of the consumer; it is the total lack of education about how things work - except in socialist economies where items just magically appear - long after they are no longer needed!

Explain to them that \every penny\ paid in taxes, Federal, State and local goes from the collection point to the Federal government that then re-apportions it BACK to the taxing locality.
NOT based on the amount collected, “booked” and sent but distributed according to actuarial tables created by the government.
And, those tables are constantly changed by the GAO.
Brilliant and its getting worse every year as our history is erased kids no longer write in cursive and on and on it goes. In Florida we have funding for each student.
Instead of giving it to the parents to spend at the school of their choice its automatically given to the local school district which may or may not be worth a sh_t.
All that needs to be changed.
