Just got back from a grocery run at the local HEB. Counted 22 shoppers (age groups throughout the spectrum) without masks in the store. Estimated about 100 shoppers in the store coming to about 20% identifying as non-maskers. Still a lot of sheep but getting better.
HEB is Texas, and the governor has receded mask requirements. I seem to recall that in concurrence, HEB stated that masks were now optional.
But to your point, here in NC, where I am now, fewer and fewer Americans are heeding the NC governor's call to make up. People here have had enough nonsense.
I came out of a public health facility a few weeks ago where they were also giving COVID vaccinations. An attendant at the exit shoved two packs of masks at me. I refused them but they insisted. I was in a hurry and did not argue. When I got home I noticed the masks were the surgical masks that just about everyone is wearing.
On the upper corner of the packets was printed NOT FOR MEDICAL USE Doesn't that about say it all?! Even the govt that mandates wearing masks doesn't take it seriously!
I threw them out.
