I've heard those rumors, but don't think it's a likely scenario any time soon. That would be the island of La Palma. They discuss pros and cons of that hypothesis on the Wikipedia page.

I lived on the two major islands, Gran Canaria and Tenerife, in the late '70s through early '80s, and visited 4 of the 5 other islands, including La Palma, where I once hiked and camped with a group of friends inside the Caldera.
