How many coal fired power plants are there in the world today?

Green New Deal???

The EU has 468 - building 27 more... Total 495

Turkey has 56 - building 93 more... Total 149

South Africa has 79 - building 24 more... Total 103

India has 589 - building 446 more... Total 1035

Philippines has 19 - building 60 more... Total 79

South Korea has 58 - building 26 more... Total 84

Japan has 90 - building 45 more... Total 135

China has 2,363 - building 1,171 more... Total = 3,534

That’s 5,615 projected coal powered plants in just 8 countries.

USA has 15 - building 0 more...Total = 15

And Democrat politicians with their "green new deal” want to brainwash us and shut down those 15 plants in order to "save” the planet.

This is EXCELLENT!! I knew the rough idea about the number of coal plants, but had not yet seen actual numbers until now.

This makes the point. Whatever the USA does or doesn’t do won’t make a Tinker’s Dam regarding CO2 unless the rest of the world, especially China and India reduce their coal-fired power plants as well.

The whole “global warming” and “climate change” gambits by Democrats are to create a *supposedly* sound, scientific basis to justify a federal government power-grab and the passage of MORE laws to increase taxes and increased control of the privately owned power industry and its distribution. Never forget the *main* motivation they have!

“Oh, we will SAVE the planet!!”

WAKE UP AMERICA !!!! We are being played ….. again !!!

Please pass this on...as it is Not too late!!

We also have waste to energy plants. Power plants that burn municipal solid waste - garbage.

I live on the Ohio River. There are six within 60 miles of me. Ten years ago there were nine. F’n Barry went a long way to gut the rural economy around here. I believe we in KY have some of the lowest electric rates in the world.

And republicans seem fine with it.

Wind mills, solar panels and mirror farms do not work and are evil.

NOT so!

“In 2019 there were 241 coal powered units across the United States which generated 23% of the United States electricity in 2019.
Wikpedia is the source for this. The other sources only give the number in Gigawatts produced and not in plant numbers.

Does anyone have time to hunt the numbers for the other countries?

I know of 3 coal plants within 100 miles of me that are closing soon. Since all use cooling lakes, this will also be a significant hit to local fisheries. The “waste” heat ends up, in part, as bigger, faster growing fish.

One cooling lake in particular supplies forage fish (threadfin shad) for many other local lakes. And, it itself is a tremendous catfish fishery with, most interestingly, very low contaminant (mercury, PCP’s, etc.) levels. I’d only cook a 20 lb. catfish out of the Ohio River for my family or friends as a near last resort. But, this lake? Fish fry / feast time!

China is not about to commit economic suicide. They realize that without reliable, cheap electricity there is poverty, social and political instability. BTW Australia is getting rich selling China all the coal it can produce. Meanwhile in demented, corrupt Biden’s America.....

This whole anti coal thing is not about saving the planet, it is about diminishing America. Liberals have some idea that America got prosperous unfairly, so they are all in on this plan. The Chinese are just pro Chinese. They do not have a cadre of fifth columnists actively working against the interests of their country.

If the Democrats bothered to pull their head out of their rectum occasionally and let in Oxygen to their brain they might see how ridiculous the Green New Deal is.

In 2019 there were 241 coal powered units across the United States

These countries have the most nuclear reactors
https://www.weforum.org/agenda/2019/11/countries-that-have-the-most-nuclear-power-alternative-energy-electricity-climate-change/
The United States has the most operational nuclear reactors on the planet – 96. Together they have a capacity of 97,565 MW, and last year nuclear energy made up about 20% of the country’s electricity generation.

Those wind mills along mountains above peoples homes are so loud and they kill birds. I have none around my home but at my childhood home. It is horrible.
Mirror farms are scattered around different counties but they do not bring in enough to make a difference in PA.
We have Coal-lots of it. Biden can kiss a salami . They still use coal here to power plants for electricity.

Yep, as mentioned previously, the “Email from a friend” has their #’s all screwed up...EU isn’t building any coal plants and as mentioned Germany is currently having trouble because of it. Poland or Czech may be building, just haven’t heard. The “building new plants” number may be highly suspect, but I get the general point they are trying to make about the bogus “Green New Deal”.
