Texas or South Carolina? Where is a good place to live?

Hi Freeps!

I need your help! Over ten years ago, I asked for some good locations in Washington State to live and you all came through and helped my family find a good place to live!

Now I'm here asking you all again. My husband and I are needing to either move to South Carolina or Texas. We just need to find a good location, not too close to any city, more rural area with good schools and hopefully more conservatives.

In Texas, we would like to live near either Dallas -Fort Worth, Amarillo, Lubbock or Midland. We just want to stay away from Austin or Huston.

In South Carolina, we really have no idea. Probably more inland away from the tourist areas.

Any help would be great, like areas to stay away from, etc.

Thank you so much!

On a more useful turn. What kind of weather/terrain do you like? Big City? Small Town? Real Rural? Close to an Interstate but backwoods? Near a lake or Ocean?

We are looking at a rural living, woods, farmland areas...

So sorry to have to tell you...but, Texas is completely full, now.

We are no longer accepting any new residents.

All rural property has been bought.

Property taxes are very high, anyhow.

Enjoy your relo to SC!! And, good luck!!

😉

Childress TX from Wiki...

In December 2015, the Seattle Post-Intelligencer voted Childress ninth among the ten “most conservative” cities in the United States in regard to political contributions. Other West Texas communities in the most conservative lineup are Hereford (No. 1), Monahans (No. 5), and Dalhart in Dallam County in the far northwestern Texas Panhandle (No. 8). Princeton in Collin County north of Dallas ranked No. 2. In contrast, Vashon Island, Washington was named the “most liberal” city in the nation in terms of political donations.[8]

Better to see the names of the cities, especially the smaller ones. 8>)

Thank you so much. We are just looking for a semi dry area after living in the North West. It’s beautiful where we live but I’m so tired of the 10 months of cloudy or rainy weather. I’d be happy at this point if I was dropped off in a dessert.

Oh, okay.

We’re full, now, so it doesn’t really matter.

😁

I appreciate your reply and that helps plan out where to live.

We lived in Kentucky for a while and got the same treatment. That being said, if I were a local, I would freak out about Northerners coming down too. But, it got a little carried away in some ways.

I’d like to move to OK! Might even consider that too. We are just trying to decide. My husband works in IT and says he wants to do something different now. He’s getting burned out.
Now we just have to figure out what to do and move to a location that could help.

I will probably get slammed here from other readers, but I would humbly suggest El Paso. Live on the west side, have beautiful views, enjoy typical high desert weather with a bit of snow in the winter. Be able to drive over to visit beautiful places in NM and AZ. Great people, great food. Very family oriented. We aren’t full timers there, but we do have a condo there with fantastic views from our patio: gorgeous sunsets, mule deer and coyotes, bluest skies ever. Just wish we could get out there more often, but my husband’s health/immunotherapy & specialists plus concern over covid keep us tethered to TN. But, oh, how we love Texas and the Southwest!!!

Here's info on how different states and their counties voted for president in the 2020 election. Bear in mind, this are the vote counts based on the voter fraud. It's also Politico.com, but the info is a good place to start. This link is for SC, but you can scroll down towards the bottom for other states...Texas. https://www.politico.com/2020-election/results/south-carolina/

We were placing out trust in the GOP to represent our interests, which we now know was definitely a mistake. But, that is a subject for another thread. Giving thought to moving to a red state, so this thread is informative.

Move to Florida - the alligators are on the golf courses.

Consider Jacksonville, FL: easy to move around, with I-10, I-95, and I-295; international airport, beaches, a wide variety of areas and neighborhoods to live in. No state income taxes, a reasonable sales tax. Activities around the city, or places that are easy to get to - Riverwalk, downtown, Orlando, St. Augustine, Tampa, Atlanta, etc.

Some of the less desirable aspects are: heat and humidity, but the only place that’s not air-conditioned is between your car and where you’re going in to; mosquitoes - keep small pets and children under 8 tied down so they won’t get carried off; palmetto bugs, more commonly referred to as “flying cockroaches” - don’t sleep with your mouth open.

Hi.

Come to St. Pete. Pinellas county went Biteme by 1700 votes. Without fraud. Out of 1m people.

Come on down. No state income tax. The weather is great except for the occasional hurricane.

Unfortunately, Texas is full.

Yeah, I hear you. Now that Biden is in, it's going from full to be packed... and with all those liberals from California coming in.
