I read a story about a guy that, for 90 days, had to live as if it was 1955. The two interesting takeaways were that there was really no “good” vodka available in the US at that time and, if you followed the instructions on a can of Folgers for making a cup of coffee, if you put a spoon in your cup, you could see the spoon from the top all the way down. ;)
i.e. the “makes 79 cups” claim is so subjective as to be non-actionable, legally. At least, that would be my take if I were on the jury.
A cup is 8 ounces. Four ounces would be half a cup.
Market Basket was the name of an operation in Holland during WWII
In baking a cup is always 8 oz
The audacity of companies now days doing every little thing they can to short the customer. They’ve probably kept the can the same size and reduced the net weight over time.
Why don’t the offer a full pound of coffee instead of 11.something pounds. Not even a full 3/4 pound. Greed has become such an overriding principle in commerce that people revolt against it.
I won’t even go into the failures of capitalism. This country was far from any idealistic capital state.
I am a fairly new coffee drinker and I am not a fan of the taste so I’m not into what constitutes good or bad coffee. I drink 1 or 2 cups in the morning of cheap instant because of supposed health benefits. I only use 1 rounded teaspoon not tablespoon for a cup. Is that quantity wrong? Are instant and brewed coffee different worlds?
Operation Market Garden :)
“if you put a spoon in your cup, you could see the spoon from the top all the way down.”
Absolutely Not, we’ll unless you like chicory in your coffee.
Remember, chock full of nuts?
“Are instant and brewed coffee different worlds?”
...HUGELY! Get a Mr. Coffee coffee maker. About $15. Filters. About $2. Buy a bag of ground “Peet’s” French roast. About $9.00. 1 large tbs. of Peets for a 12 oz cup. Excellent! I actually look forward to my morning coffee.
“I like coffee good and strong, so my rounded tablespoon “
Strong? I press as much freshly ground as I can into the double expresso filter!
Oh yes.
Instant is ok if you have nothing else, are only after a caffeine kick or are in Ranger School.
For a good cup you should brew. Fancy equipment not required but a french press does very nicely.
Heat your water to almost boiling, add two rounded tablespoons of course round coffee to press, pour 12 oz water over rounds, stir and put on lid. Wait about 4 minutes, push down plunger, drink.
Lol
Same people who sued over a can of tuna?
False advertising is false advertising.
Just like subway is going to get hit with fraud over its tuna salad sandwich not containing real tuna.
I am pretty serious about my coffee, so I have a fancy, horrendously expensive European coffee maker and an Aeropress. The Aeropress makes a cup of coffee every bit as good as the fancy equipment.
