After months of waiting, high school winter contact sports can finally move forward with their respective seasons.
Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer officially announced the return of high school winter contact sports in a Thursday afternoon press conference after the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services issued new orders to allow competition and full-contact practice to being on Feb. 8 for girls and boys basketball, competitive cheer, ice hockey and wrestling.
“This is exciting news,” Whitmer said in a press conference. “I’m so glad that our kids are going to be able to get back into playing the sports that they love.”
Prior to Thursday’s new orders, the winter contact sports were restricted to only non-contact team activities and no competition through Feb. 21. The new order allows for teams to get started two weeks prior to the old date but requires all participants to wear masks in practice and competition.

When Whitmer was asked if the Let Them Play rally at the state Capitol on Jan. 30 helped influence the decision to reinstate contact sports, she quickly denied it having any impact.
“None,” Whitmer said. “I have been very clear throughout this crisis that we are going to follow the science and that’s what we have been doing. I understand that there are many different groups at various different times over the last 11 months who have made their case publicly. The fact of the matter is, if anyone watched how I conducted myself and the way that we have navigated COVID, it’s that we have been absolutely committed to following the science … I’m proud to say the pause has worked.”

Kinda reminds me of how concerned my state HS athletic commission was during last football season. After playing an early season game, out of concern for the possible spread of the plague, instead of having the two teams shake hands, they were required to stand on opposite hashmarks......and wave to each other.
The absolute genius of these leaders is breathtaking.
Elections could be a solution, but they have been proven to be fraudulent lies.
And just like that...
The michigan sos participated in the 2020 steal, so winning there could probably occur, but the sos would be fine with the vote fruad that would,o cur to keep WHitler installed.
