It’s not so much Democrats in general. It’s some of those who individually donate the most to Democrat politicians. They want to control most of the Democrat voters, too, and they’ll use all kinds of personal hatreds, other emotional hooks or even money (funding, especially pork) to get support from those voters.

I resent the use of “technocrat” as a label. I like technical pursuits and know that people in technologies (e.g., building masonry heaters) have more sense than most academics or global tycoons.
If representative (democratic) enough, a real technocracy would be the best kind of government possible. That’s not what we’re under now. Most of our leaders now are not capable of building porch steps or repairing their cars.
The dems most effective plank was getting property owners to board up their buildings a week before the election in case the dem candidate lost. The dem mayors and governors demonstrated they were willing to let their cities burn the summer before an election and during a supposed pandemic emergency and economic disaster.
