I know you open lots of tabs sometimes. Can you get by with 8GB memory or is 16GB much more needed? My new computer only has 8 -—my old one had 16GB. I use Chrome and Brave and use session buddy to quickly close out tabs when I get 200 tabs or so.

You should have 16GB and a SSD. For me with 32GB right now with 5 browsers and around 600 tabs open (leaving s lot on the "table" that I want handy) and 2 Bible programs documents on 2 word pros and a email client and other programs, memory usage is 45% but it grows. Restarting a browser restores RAM so I need to do so sometimes, since I rarely shutdown the PC, just put it to sleep.

Thanks. I will add another 8GB ram that matches the Samsung 8G module that the computer came with. This is an HP from 2 years ago. Great fast CPU— i5-8400. It come with an Intel Optane chip which speeds up the 7200RPM hard drive.

So that READ is 929 mb/s
WRITE is 159 mb/s
Computer boots in 16 seconds but I am same as you. I put it to sleep and reboot maybe once per week.

So no SSD which would read and write at about 400-500 mb/s
Someday ahead I will swap out the Optane chip for an NVME drive and use that NVME as my primary hard drive.

I did put a fresh WD 500GB NVME drive into a cheap i3 Dell laptop. Speeds now are>>
WRITE— 1800 Mb/s
READ —2400Mb/s
