Found her(hound mix) in a rescue shelter 12 years ago. She was appx. 2 years old by the vet when we got her. So she is appx. 14 years old.
exactly. Ditch the idea that you’re not ready to ‘replace’ the one you lost. This isn’t replacement; it’s a refilling of one you’ll love just as much. Even when they chew up your shoes and books and remote control.....etc :)
Prayers for your hard decision. Many here have been there and can empathize.
I’m so sorry. Put my 16.6 year old girl to sleep in September. It’s so hard. My girl’s quality of life deteriorated rapidly and I couldn’t let suffer. You will do what you need to do for her.
One of the worst days of my life was putting down my 15 yr old standard poodle - took me so long to get over that.
To me it’s the cost of loving them so much while they’re with us.
So sorry for what you are going through.
So very sorry!!! Dogs help make our lives so wonderful with their unconditional love. They bring such joy ! But when they go....it’s crushing on ones soul. Hugs to you and your girl!
Awww so sorry. So very hard to say goodbye to a beloved fur baby. 😥🐕
Sorry to hear that. I know it’s bad. I hope you can take some consolation in knowing that you and she have fulfilled your purposes to each other .
So so sorry. It is the hardest thing ever. The love we have for them is endless.
The greatest injustice of life is the disparity of lifespan between dog and man.
Sorry for your loss.
Will call the vet tomorrow,. She is very disoriented. This is one of the hardest decisions of my life.
Sorry about the vvaity.
Don’t apologize! We recued a Pug 11 years ago, along with a Chug another Pug and a Beagle. Bugsy was our muse....he was my little fatty, he was smarter than my Hub and I because he was a sneaky little dude.....then in the last couple of weeks he lost his ability to walk.....pinched nerve, born with a bad leg from the start plus his weight probably took it’s toll on his back and hips. We worked with him, got one of those scooters but he couldn’t walk on his front legs so our other Pug with the arthritic spine is using it. Bugsy started to lose his ability to urinate and we used suppositories to help him move his bowels. We took him to the vet and he told us he’s not going to get any better and with the failure to be able to urinate that was going to cause problems. With heavy hearts like we’ve never experienced we decided to put him down.....he went easy in our arms with us telling him how much we loved him but our grief is indescribable. I’ve always told friends and family to think of the wonderful life they gave their lost pet and I know we give our babies the best but somehow that doesn’t help. We’ll get over it (maybe) but one thing’s for sure it takes a special kind of love to let them go......we couldn’t put him through what was about to happen so we made the decision. Biff I’ll be praying for you and your baby and for the strength to make this very hard decision. Please let us know how it goes. God bless and give you comfort.....;(

Don’t be sorry about your post. We love our pets as family. And I’ll bet your girl loves you more that most for rescuing her. You’re right, it is one of the hardest decisions to make. I once asked God for help with my dying pet, and the answer I believe that I received was “I am helping him, through you.”
I put my cat down yesterday. Old age hit hard all of a sudden. Very sorry for your loss.
The vet may come out to your car so you can be with her.
I’ve had lots of pets and without exception I have regretted making the very hard decision too late rather than too early. Even last May, with dear Tweety, I now feel I waited too long...knowing better.
What you must do is a kindness. I’m so sorry. It hurts like hell.
What is your pup’s name?
Love is love. Species is irrelevant.
I just lost my little Sadie (dachshund) that I had for 16 years. I lost her in December. It is one of the hardest things to go through.
But, you recued your pup and I am sure you gave her a great life over the last 12 years. They do know how we treat them. You did a a job well done. You took in your pup and provided well. The memories are never forgotten...
So sorry for you. A family member no doubt.
My heart goes out to you.
Sorry you are going through this. Prayers for you.
So sorry to hear this! Breaks my heart! My prayers are with you.
