I saw the thread reminiscing about snow days of old. Told hubby about it....how kids woke up to days like this, excited to break out their snow toys, for the day. Reminds me of a mix of It’s a Wonderful Life and Christmas Story.
I told hubby....sadly, the more we’ve *progressed*, we’ve digressed :-(

When my brother and I were about 5 and 4 years old we really didn't play in the snow for hours and hours. Mom worked shift work at a Nestle's factory. On weekends she cleaned the house. My brother and I dusted. One day she wanted to mop the floors. She told us to go outside and play. She bundled us up and we went out. We came back inside a few minutes later...tracking in snow. She said go out. We did and came back in a few minutes later. She said go out. That time she locked the door. Guess what? We learned how to play in the snow and couldn't wait to go out in it.
Today, they probably would charge her with child abuse.
