If you’re into canning, it’s a really easy way to store bacon bits. I cut my raw bacon into squares and then partially cook them. Then put them into little half pint canning jars, and the canning process cooks them the rest of the way. I’ve tried just putting them into jars Raw but then they need some more cooking when I take them out. Although I do usually cook them just a little to make them crispier. But a few seconds in the microwave is all it needs.
I probably need to pull out all my canning/preserving and homesteading books! LOL
I have a lot of old Mother Earth News magazines-even issue #1! I always love pulling them out to read in the winter.
