COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Ten players for No. 1 South Carolina remained seated during the national anthem before their season opener with College of Charleston on Wednesday.

Only junior forward Elysa Wesolek stood during the anthem. Coach Dawn Staley and her staff also stood.

Advertisement The team posted a statement on Twitter saying that many of them did not stand “to shine a light on the need for racial equality, social justice and ending systemic racism in our country.”

Talk to me about racial equality when your team composition is comparable to the general population.

Before you can fix racial equality, you need to determine the cause of racial inequality. The 800lb gorilla in the room is this question: Discrimination is a learned behavior. Why are blacks discriminated against more than other minorities in the US? If you're honest, it's because of black behavior. We've thrown trillions of dollars at the problem, but the solution can't be bought. It has to come from within the black community. They need to police their own house and clean it up from the inside and earn racial equality.

You are right. They are taught to be racist, by their parents and families, their communities, and in their schools. They are taught to be “victims” and to blame others for their own lack of self-worth and self-responsibility. Schools are teaching the doctrine of hated for whites. These kids are NOT being taught any real, factual history about our country, its founding, and what America has done, for peoples of all nations, to be one of the least racist countries and societies, on this planet. Our educational system is teaching straight-out Marxism and communism and anti-democracy to these kids, starting in kindergarten. I know because I was there, fighting to teach the truth about our exceptional and great America, for nearly 40 years as a teacher.
We need to start and address that.

Why are blacks discriminated against more than other minorities in the US?

Objection, Your Honor! Counsel is stating a question containing a premise which has yet to be proven!

(Blacks are namely not subject to systemic discrimination before the law.)

There is no systemic racism that I see.

Some of those activists talk about issues, such as the poor educational quality in our big city schools. While that is an important issue, how is it an example of racism? In many cities, black members of school boards oversee black principals and black teachers, who collectively run big city school systems populated by mostly black students. So where is the racism when blacks are in charge?

I fought a similar battle in the universities. My Ph.D. is in Cliometrics and I tried to teach conservative economics a la Friedman and they did listen. However, I was pretty much a lone voice for conservatism. I ate a lot of lunches alone. Oddly, even though I was surrounded by very bright people, none wanted to debate the merits of Capitalism versus Socialism or any other "ism".
