Why did Karl Marx hate God?

Posted on 11/13/2020 10:24:54 AM PST by Jonty30

I'm just asking here if anybody knows what caused Karl Marx to turn away from God and become and avowed Satanist and an occultist?

I've tried to find information on what may have been the reason or reasons, but there is scant information on this.

Is there any information out there?

For Marx to be a Satanist, he would have to actually disbelieve in materialism. However, I do believe Ungurean’s assertion that Marx was most likely possessed.

It’s a little presumptive to claim that even with 18-year-olds of the nineteenth century, their “life’s program had already been established”, however.

Marx’s grandfather was the rabbi, and the chief rabbi of Trier, his birthplace.

Marx’s father had converted from Judaism to Lutheranism.

When Marx himself went to university, he was part of the clique that admired Hegel, particularly the theory of dialectics.

This topic is covered in an informative (if not tightly written) little book entitled "Karl Marx, True or False Prophet?" by Deirdre Manifold (likely out of print but can be gotten from ABEbooks.com) Sample below:

Marx coined himself a scientist (social scientist) and proclaimed religion as a falsehood that blinded religious men from the truth of science. To him, religion gave power to religious leaders, who in turn colluded with the bourgeoisie and legitimized the plight of the proletariat. Marx was not a Satanist, as that would imply at least a faith in Satan; he was an atheist who rejected all forms of religion and proselytized the virtues of living in the world and working hard before endless death. He said (paraphrasing here) that a belief in the afterlife only lead people to produce less in society rather than look at the endless death of atheism and use that as an incentive to produce at one's capacity. In effect, leave a lasting mark via your labors on future generations since you won't enjoy anything after you die.

Many modern "liberals" live by this very idea and expect the rest of us to blindly adopt it.

Uh, no, he was Jewish and was educated in traditional Rabbinic school as a child, then went to college to study law. He was never a Christian.

My source states that "Though he [Karl Marx] came from a long line of Jewish Rabbis, he was baptised into the Protestant religion as his father, Hirschel -- a lawyer, had converted to Protestantism shortly before Karl's birth."

Philosophy goes into some pretty deep territory, so I'd guess it would be very difficult to understand Marx' view without studying him more thoroughly.

My general impression is that Marx believed that God and religion were used to prevent the lower classes from rising up against the upper classes. Providing them with an excuse in that enduring their pain contentedly would ultimately be rewarded in the afterlife. Thereby allowing them to continue living in drudgery with a promise of better things to come. Hence his "opiate of the masses" remark.

Imagine you're a wealthy landowner. You have peasants working 20x7 in your fields. To Marx, you give those peasants a "god" to soothe them. You give them a "religion" to pacify them. So they can call on their "god" to help them improve their circumstances, rather than calling on themselves to revolt (resulting in torches and pitchforks at your door).

Marx wanted insurrection, a revolution. I think Marx couldn't see that being achieved without destroying the belief in God.

I've never heard that Marx was a satanist. To me, I don't see how somebody could be an atheist AND a satanist. If satan exists, then there must be God.

I've never ready or studied Marx intently. But I do believe as an "anti-commie" that it is good to try to understand what forms the thoughts of the enemy.

Why does anyone that is without Christ hate God?

“For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life” (Romans 5:6-10).

Folks, if you are not saved - you are an enemy of God and no different than Karl Marx in the end.

The Tears for Fears song said it all. Everybody wants to rule the world. Or, more simply, the human condition is difficult at best. We all want to be free of the bonds of being human. Communism promises that we can be free of our human limitations, in particular our economic limits.

Yes, and no. New book by a good historian, Paul Kengor, “The Devil and Karl Marx.” Yet he doesn’t really explain why Marx hated God. He was (like Lenin) in pain much of his life from boils (some say self inflicted by his aversion to taking a bath and basic cleanliness) and other afflictions. He was obsessed at an early age with dark poetry and fancied himself a poet.

But I don’t think Kengor really answers this any better than any biography explains why Hitler hated Jews.

I highly recommend that you read Paul Kengor’s book: “The Devil and Karl Marx: Communism’s Long March of Death, Deception, and Infiltration.” It was published this last August. Kengor provides an excellent answer to your question.

“Create a race of human beings conditioned to think like criminals”?

Sounds like sociopathy does it not?

The Holy Spirit through the apostle Paul warned us about this in I Tim. 4:1.
