At least 30 Philadelphia cops were injured by early Tuesday as violent mobs torched squad cars and charged lines of officers in a night of carnage sparked by the police shooting of a knife-wielding man.
Organized protests gathered at a park chanting “black lives matter” soon after news broke of the 4 p.m. death of 27-year-old Walter Wallace, who was shot by police after refusing to drop a knife.

Not exactly. He was displaying the knife he was told to drop and was walking at officers who told him to stop. He refuse and kept approaching the officers at which point they defended themselves from what they determined to be an attack by Wallace. All he had to do was drop the knife. All he had to do was stop coming at the cops with the knife. If he had done either or both, he wouldn’t have been a threat. And this is another misinterpreted situation that is costing lives by stupid people.

I would like to see the ratio of cops injured to rioters injured inverted.
A riot can start anywhere. Its duration, impact and outcome are driven by local governmental priorities.
As long as local Dem governments sympathize and support riots, local cops should stand down and citizens should either defend their homes and property or relocate.
Until rioters are injured at a greater ratio than police the tugs will not stop.

Supposedly Tasers are the non-lethal solution for this type of situation.
But a knife at close quarters leaves very little time for acting.
I still remember many years ago grabbing the wrist and stopping a knife inches from my own body when surprised by drugged person who’d just crashed a car.Letting that person close could have been my last mistake as an officer.
Approaching with knife held threatening is asking to be shot.
The Mayor says the video of the shooting presents “difficult questions” that must be answered by an “investigation.” The only “difficult” question is how will the Mayor and the DA spin the video to blame the cops?
