f mask mandates were ever going to work to stop a spread, it would have occurred in Hawaii, which is isolated from the rest of the world on all sides. In fact, the exact opposite happened.
Keep in mind the states testing rate is still low. Theyre testing 131K per million population vs. a 202K per million national average. Testing has increased somewhat, as in all states, but even when you adjust cases to test levels of April 8, todays numbers are still 55% higher and rising fast.
Well, maybe people arent listening and are gathering too much? Not a chance.

My experience is that people look at each other as potential virus vectors, and not other people.
This is dehumanizing.
It’s rare someone will return my hello.
Going through the list, number three 42,000 jobs isn’t very large given the population size of the islands. Number four, manufacturing of Hawaiian shirts and gowns are dependent on tourism. Number five, service industry, how much of this is also heavily dependent on tourism.
Move most of the military base equipment to Midway or Guam and be rude to tourists, what do you have left other than draining transferred retirees living there before they die?
If it spreads as small aerosols, any building with recirculating A/C is vulnerable.
They are going to discover that masks actually help to spread the virus.
And when they do, oh boy, do I want to see Tony Fauci spinning and sweating at that press conference.

Fauci will say he misspoke about lying about not needing masks, and you really don’t need masks.
I think you are right on that.
Any benefits of wearing a mask are psychological.
I imagine Walmart likes the mandates because they lived in daily fear of their cashiers becoming too scared to show up for work.
Maybe what we need to have is a
Mail Your Used Masks to Tony Fauci Campaign...
Hawaii started it’s spread late because of geographic isolation. So it will surge and end late.
But this will give the media something to whine about for the next few weeks.
“The better approach would be to end mandates and start education around WHY masks are important to wear...”
LOL. The entire nation has been Tsunamied with education about how great masks are. If they doubled it, there would be nothing else on TV or social media but earnest people telling us about the wonders of masks 24/7.
I haven’t seen anything that speaks to WHY they work, or which masks specifically are useful, or in what situations.
Maybe there’s that level of detail available in some places, but I’ve had to hunt down the WHY myself. All I’ve heard from government sources is “Do X because we say it’s good and also now it’s a mandate!” Which is useless if you’re trying to make an informed decision and even moreso if you have no personal investment in it because you don’t believe it affects you personally.
Unfortunately, Trump is still advocating mask use. Why he keeps shooting himself in the foot on this I’ll never know. He’s totally conceded on the mask issue.
I’m sure they’ll find a way to blame vacationers from red states.
Nobody can stop the cookout.
Nobody.
I appreciate your thorough presentation even though the facts as you present them for some undescribed reason don’t appear to apply to real life as near universal face diaper wearing and anti-social distancing appear to have had little effect on the y-axis of the infection graph although these measures have certainly lengthened the timeline. Cheers!
5,060 cases!!!!!!!? Wow! That’s huge!
