It's a classical Naked communist ploy to replace meaningful history with meaningless garbage like this. One of the long list Skousen revealed. Exactly.....Proclaiming a national pickle was harmless enough as it promoted commerce.
But under the same guise they amalgamated George Washington and Abraham Lincoln birthday commemorations under the generic Presidents Day to provide a single long weekend. The result removed the opportunity to educate why these were heroic individuals critical to the development of our country. Also the reason that now they're agitating for removal of the Mount Rushmore sculpture.

Screw it.
I’m now celebrating April 12 as a holiday.

Meanwhile, in the slave states that remained in the UNION, slavery was still legal until Dec 1865 when the 13th Amendment was ratified, five months after Juneteenth.

Will Massachusetts be joining Texas in celebrating San Jacinto Day too?

The left has gone beyond “holidays” and now designates holy months to praise and promote sodomy around the globe, among other set asides.

One can only hope that the Juneteenth celebrations will emphasize this important fact: On June 19, 1865 Republicans freed the last black slave from Democrat control.
Actually, other slaves in Delaware, Kentucky, and possibly a few others weren't freed until the 13th was ratified (Dec 6th) and formally adopted on December 18th of that year.
But, to go even deeper, several American Tribes still held slaves at this point, and the 13th didn't really apply to them as "Indian Territory" wasn't officially recognized as an explicit "territory" of these US. So slavery wasn't truly abolished until treaties with the Tribes were fully ratified and in effect, of which the final one was the Creek, with a date of June 14th, 1866.

Aw, heck. You two are right. Not all the slaves were freed on June 19, 1865.
So now I have to revise my otherwise brilliant post to read:

P.S. Thanks guys for your posts. I learned something new!
