CDC Extends Its No-Sail Order to September 30
Cruise Critic ^ | JULY 16, 2020 | Aaron Saunders

Posted on 07/17/2020 9:40:08 AM PDT by Capt. Tom

(7:05 p.m. EDT) -- The U.S. Centers for Disease Control & Prevention has issued an extension of its No Sail Order that was due to expire July 24, extending it until September 30, 2020, for all cruises out of U.S. ports of call.

The order, which first was issued March 14 and extended for 100 days in April, comes on the heels of Cruise Lines International Association, the industry's largest trade organization, announcing that its member lines would voluntarily suspend all cruise operations until September 15.

The CDC notes its order is in effect until either: the expiration of the Secretary of Health and Human Services' declaration that COVID-19 constitutes a public health emergency; the CDC director rescinds or modifies the order based on specific public health or other considerations; or until September 30.

International cruise operations are not affected at this time, as they fall outside of the jurisdiction of the CDC. Only voyages from, to or within the United States are affected.

New verbiage in the CDC's extension, though, makes it clear that ships operating outside of the United States cannot enter any U.S. waterway or call on any U.S. port while the CDC's No Sail Order is in effect.

If you read the whole article, you can sense the Cruise Lines are going to accomodate our inept and incompetent CDC, as the cruise lines are now in a position of going bankrupt if the cruise lines get more restrictions put on them by our CDC, or the UN WHO.

When we get to the end of September the CDC can make another extension of NO SAIL orders.

AS I said on another thread, "We are no longer in charge the EVENTS are in charge." -Tom

They are just as likely to go bankrupt from passengers/survivors of passengers suing them to oblivion. When you run floating hotbeds of deadly diseases, it’s a business risk you have to take. I don’t know why this would surprise or shock anyone.

They have too.

To go against the CDC would be like you or me telling the IRS we are not going to file tax returns anymore. -Tom

Events and unelected bureaucrats are in charge ... and many, many scared-sh!tless Americans fully support this.

The cruise lines do a better job of disease prevention than your typical elementary school.

There is no realistic proof for any of this virus shit....#’s are being fabricated and normal business is FUBAR.....Whats worse are the spineless lemmings that actually believe this shite!...everyday I have to tell morons to get away from me for busting my chops because I don’t wear a mask....if the place insists I walk and will never darken their doorsteps again....sickening to see people succumb so easily. The cruise industry will get big fat checks to stay afloat...some smaller will fail but the big boys will be fine...Its just WE THE PE0PLE who actually generate the cash that get crumbs. I am so f_____g pissed off right now...and mainly because of my fellow citizens bowing down so easily!

Not much of a brag. Especially considering schools are also closed down.

What with their neighborhood stores going out of business forever and jobs being scarce, I can’t imagine too many Americans worrying about foreign-owned disease-carrying luxury ships being put in mothballs.

Yes, this is partly a class thing. There is a leftist narrative that cruise ships are floating playgrounds for rich white people. It’s BS of course but the left will celebrate if the Cruise Lines go under.

Suppose you had the smartest, EVIL minds in the world thinking of toppling The United States of America. Could you send it into chaos? Topple it? How? What vehicle could you use? What control tangents could you veer off from the vehicle? Does the vehicle have plausible deniability built into it? Would you practice with an event to lay down a template or just go ahead with it? NO need to answer. NO opposing views allowed to be amplified on a large platform. WITNESS.

They are just as likely to go bankrupt from passengers/survivors of passengers suing them to oblivion.

That is one of the reasons cruise ships are foreign flagged .
Avoid taxes - avoid American unions - and avoid lawsuits from a litigious society, like ours.

People go into business to make money , not to pay taxes or have their employees tell them how to run the business or how much they should be paying their employees.

Being foreign flagged helps avoid those business problems.

Like most big businesses, remember cruise lines aren't in business to create jobs, or pay taxes, they are there to make money. -Tom

Looks like they picked the wrong business to go into then. I’m thinking they should invest in explosive toothpaste as a much better bet that way.

True, but the big reason is that it invites lawsuits. The CDC dragging its feet initially was why the virus got so entrenched here - the attitude by corporations, including cruise lines, was that if CDC wasn’t saying no, then they could win lawsuits if people got sick on their cruises (regardless of how they got the virus).

...except if they get a large US judgement against them and have their ships seized (assuming they dock here). I suspect that’s what they worry about.

__________________________________________________________
The federal government derives its authority for isolation and quarantine from the Commerce Clause of the U.S. Constitution. Under section 361 of the Public Health Service Act (42 U.S. Code § 264), the U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services is authorized to take measures to prevent the entry and spread of communicable diseases from foreign countries into the United States and between states.

The authority for carrying out these functions on a daily basis has been delegated to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

I agree with every syllable. Great post.

There’s nothing real about any of this and there never has been. Except the damage being done to people’s lives and the economy because democrats are desperate, that part is real.

September 30, 2020?
The CDC are a bunch of pikers.
My employer sent out an email this morning extending our work from home policy until January 4, 2021.
