On the evening of October 26, Yoann Gillet, the regional councilor for the National Rally of Nîmes, was the victim of a violent assault by the Antifas. Taken to task, he was first insulted and threatened with death. Then the attackers moved away to return with reinforcement. The president of the RN denounced a "systematic complacency of the Power with regard to these thugs". Gilbert Collard also expressed his indignation: "We are starting to get seriously fed up with this unpunished leftist hatred," he wrote on his Twitter account.
