Rory McIlroy already had expressed doubts about any future rounds of golf with President Trump, saying in April 2017 that he’d have to “think twice” about it after receiving a considerable amount of heat for his round with the president two months earlier at Trump’s club in West Palm Beach, Fla.

“....he’d have to “think twice” about it after receiving a considerable amount of heat for his round with the president....”

He has every right to determine his own idea of what the politics are in any country. He has lived in the US, Florida, for 5 years, and married for 3 to an American citizen. He is a resident, therefore pays taxes for all of the income he wins or is paid, in or out of country.

We have a lot of people that complain about Trump, he’s not alone. Why hammer him? He has just as much a right to his opinion as anyone. He’s up front, and stands by his politics. And he doesn’t run to the nearest microphone and blast it. He was asked at Sky Sports, and he told the truth. I don’t agree with him either, and the libs hate me for it. I’d like to think I’m better than they are. I believe in the Constitution and the freedoms we are gifted with even if the libs don’t. And you can be assured the “heat” he took was not from the right. He was asked to play again and was forced by that heat to turn it down. If it hadn’t been forced out and blown up, it never would have made any difference. And it shouldn’t.

Rory is a piece of work.

Wikpedia:

Wozniacki was in a relationship with. Northern Irish professional golfer Rory McIlroy from 2011 until 2014. She announced their engagement via Twitter on 1 January 2014. On 21 May 2014, it was announced that McIlroy had ended the engagement: “The problem is mine. The wedding invitations issued at the weekend made me realise that I wasn’t ready for all that marriage entails. I wish Caroline all the happiness she deserves and thank her for the great times we’ve had.”

Wozniacki later revealed that McIlroy had ended the relationship through a brief phone call, and had not contacted her since

Can’t handle the criticism from the left about his golfing with Trump, and has to invent a fake reason for not doing it again in the future. Gutless Fickle POS.

Rory, I have enjoyed your golf. Well no more. Bye.

You should have stood among your peers and kept politics out of your sport, not bringing it in. For that, you are a past-tense part of golf as far as I am concerned.

Not from golf peers (as most Tour golfers are right wing). Peers meaning lefties on Twitter.

He was offered PRIVATELY an invite to golf with the POTUS. And yet he PUBLICLY brags to the media that he turned him down. That’s classless. And it has nothing to do with politics.

Funny that I was trying to like him. That ship has now sailed and he can go and swim with the fishes.

“...it has nothing to do with politics.

It has everything to do with politics. The first lines in the article stated:

“Rory McIlroy already had expressed doubts about any future rounds of golf with President Trump, saying in April 2017 that he’d have to “think twice” about it after receiving a considerable amount of heat for his round with the president two months earlier at Trump’s club in West Palm Beach, Fla.”

I don’t think the conservatives would complain. And he admitted he had a good time when he played the first time.

“I will sit here and say the day I had with him I enjoyed,” McIlroy said. “But that doesn’t mean I agree with everything or, in fact, anything he says.”

https://golf.com/news/rory-mcilroy-would-not-play-golf-president-trump-again/

And he has openly pointed out his dislike for the politics of President Trump. That’s his opinion and he has earned the privilege to it whether he disagrees with Trump or not.

Funny that I was trying to like him.

well put, emphasis on "trying".

I am a golf fan and had looked forward to tomorrow's PGA Tour restart with a four-man charity golf match. Now, not so much.

Yep, I’m back on the Tiger train because he has taken the arrows and played with Trump.

Pretty much. He has been consistently loyal to President Trump because President Trump stood by him when he was in deep trouble, unlike most of his “friends”. A fair weather friend is no use to anybody.
McIlroy sounds increasingly like a cuck. Pathetic really. Who needs a weak kneed sap like that?
