Porec is worth a visit. It has a basilica of St. Euphrasius which has beautiful early medieval mosaics—like those in Ravenna but not as many. Down the coast is Pula which has a well-preserved Roman amphitheatre, a small Roman temple to Augustus, and a very nice archaeological museum. A few miles north of Pula there is a ferry to the Briuni islands where Tito had a vacation resort which is open to tourists—interesting place. When I was there you could take a ride around the main island and some of the exotic animals which had been given to Tito by visiting foreign dignitaries were still there, and there are some Roman ruins.
