It does take the virus a long time before it makes you very, very sick.
I think this lag is caused by the high amount of suburban and rural area here. That slows it’s spread.
But now we have an outbreak in out urban and NOVA area too.
I’m surprised at the date though.
Agreed that VA peak date for Phase I seems very late—even with the 25% leakage predicted by the Imperial College model it seems too late imho.
The west coast spread was slowed down by the Rocky Mountains. Obviously, the Appalachians are more populated than the Rockies and deserts so the east coast spread much more rapidly. Go back to the maps to see the movement. In rural areas, there may only be one or two grocery stores per county so everyone will shop there. All it takes is one infected person who likely commutes to the city to bring it in and shops at the one grocer and pumps gas at the main intersection in town.
