So that when this passes, the non-essential Little People go right back to 1% unemployment. And consumerism explodes into the stratosphere, especially for theatre, restaurants, amusements, new autos, outdoor gear and widgits. People will reward themselves for surviving. Bank on it.
You are dreaming. The economy is shutting down all around me. Housing construction in particular. Who will buy a house in an area where recently constructed homes lost 40-50% of their value only a decade ago? Only the insane and financially illiterate. It’s going to take years to restore consumer confidence that was shattered by the Wu Flu Panic of 2020.
“Who will buy a house in an area where recently constructed homes lost 40-50% of their value only a decade ago?”
Everyone.
A regional housing price crash 10 years ago has nothing to do with this virus or your town’s current economy. And a temporary construction slowdown on the other side of town doesn’t affect you, or the construction workers being paid to sit at home (or who are waiting it out in messico). Banks pay construction loans out in steps, so they’re not hurting either. Completed construction affects you by increased competition, lower value on older homes, and higher property taxes. I about had a cow when they changed my zoning to allow higher density. Your strawman has no legs.
“The economy is shutting down all around me.”
Solipsist.
The hospital needs you.
