Relax, it has nothing to do with Islam. In fact, the hardliners don’t like it. It’s Persian new year. i.e. spring. The Muslims haven’t been able to squelch Persian traditions.
Nowruz means new day. It is a 3000 year old holiday celebrating the first day of spring. It is the Persian New Year. Like the Chinese celebrate the Chinese New Year the Persians celebrate their new year on the first day of spring March 21. It was developed by the believers in Zoroastramism
