Yes, there's been a lot of speculation as to who was the primary White House leaker, but none of the other suspects engaged in such a calculated, premeditated betrayal as Bannon.

It was Bannon who went behind the President's back to give anti-Trump author Michael Wolff privileged access to the White House. Then, when Wolff's book came out, Bannon's quotes were leaked to the press beforehand, and were used as the primary promotional hook for the book.

Bannon's quotes were deliberately calculated to build public support for the Mueller investigation. Bannon was quoted in Wolff's book as calling Don Jr., Jared Kushner and Paul Manafort "treasonous" and "unpatriotic" for meeting with Natalya Veselnitskaya at Trump Tower in June 2016. Even worse, Bannon tried to implicate the President personally, by stating, "The chance that Don Jr. did not walk these jumos up to his father's office on the twenty-sixth floor is zero."

These statements were published on January 3, 2018. The very next day, Rush Limbaugh said on the air that, "most of the leaking coming out of the White House had been Steve Bannon. You'd be stunned at the number of people who knew. Bannon was spending so much time with Maggie Haberman at the New York Times. He was spending a lot of time with people at the Politico. Everybody knew this..." ("Didn't Everyone Know Sloppy Steve Was the Leaker?" January 5, 2018)

Then, on January 7, 2018, Rush wrote on Facebook: ""Once Trump fired Bannon, the daily leaks stopped, but beyond that, everyone knew the guy was a leaker. Yet it only made news when your humble host said it on the air. This is not news."

It's plain that Rush was not speculating about Bannon. He had inside info. Rush was clear and unambiguous in fingering Bannon as the primary leaker in the White House.

Of course, others are entitled to their opinions. But my money is on Rush Limbaugh. He seems to have the President's trust and confidence.

I'm guessing that Rush conveyed exactly what President Trump told him to convey regarding the Steve Bannon blow-up.
