I got a nice dose of reality with Free Republic off the air this morning.
By 8 am I searched, "Is Free Republic Down" and it took me to a site that confirmed, that it was down for everyone.
By 9 am, insidiously, I noticed a frontal headache and a little anxiety.
By 10 I was having trouble concentrating and getting a bit restless and short with co-workers,
By 11 there was some paranoia with thoughts like "What if Free Republic never comes back up?" and "I think I'm hooked on this site", and "What if I can't recover from it's loss."
I tried diving back into my work, thinking the diversion would help but by noon the symptoms and signs had worsened.
By then I noticed light hand tremors and diaphoresis of the palms.
By 1 pm my speech was slurred. It was 72 degrees in the office, but my teeth were chattering, and I felt cold.
The tremors grew worse, and I could feel the sweat spreading to my arms and back, my feet tingling, and I was getting weak.
By 2 I was getting truly worried, thinking that I might have to go into detox somewhere.
Then miraculously, the site was back up, before I had to call 911.
I'm better now as I sit in my office wrapped in a blanket, sipping weak herbal tea, realizing how dependent my mental well being relies on Free Republic and interacting with all my Freeper Friends.
That's a good thing.
Maybe now's a time for those out there who are not monthly donors to donate, something, anything. It would be a terrible thing to lose our site, especially this year, when Trump needs us.
Thank you Jim. Free Republic, has truly made my life better.

It’s really surprising how much we get used to jumping on this forum and “talking” to like minded, smarter than average, honest, hard working, people.

The Democrats and the Left hate this truth telling site and would do anything to shut it down. One day Mr. Robinson should write a tell all not only how the site has been attacked but the personal attacks he has had to endure.

I find it curious that every MAJOR news day coincides with the site being suddenly down. This has now happened 3-5 times in past couple of years.
And then there’s the rest of us who were crooks once we came out of the womb :)
Stole 2,000 from the church rectory at 13 years old. We got caught when my friend’s mother found his money and he said he earned from his paper route. That he made 10 bucks a week on.
We also used to chomp on (not blessed) wafers in class.
Fr was down.
I kicked my dog, beat my wife, donated my kids to Chuck E. Cheese, came home and got drunk.
Then I broke all my dishes and pushed my disabled neighbor and his wheelchair into a ditch.
Things were near to getting serious.
The first rule of FR is you never talk about FR.
Put it on your blog!
FR is a necessity if you NEED to get the news.
And you need to get the news if you are working on the stock markets in the USA, Canada, Japan and Germany.
So donate jointly, severally, and often.

I pulled out my Visa card today and sent my donation.
