Man, those representatives must ALWAYS be in campaign and fundraising mode. Explains why they never get anything done lol.
The districts are small enough that they could visit or speak with everyone if they want to. Instead there are those who travel to other countries instead of coming home.
You hit the nail on the head! Originally, it was intended that citizens would serve a short time, part time, while continuing their personal life and business. Not full time career politicians.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe legislators can keep their contributions once they leave office. Fundraising would be their second pension, especially those who have not had an opponent.
