They stayed there because they could farm but it was far from a 'Greenland'. If it was so toasty, why did they move south?

1) Alligator fossils found there
2) Coffins under dirt of Greenland decedents had large
tree roots growing into them
Something atmospheric happened and it got much colder quite quickly a few hundred hears ago.
